I can confirm the book was great. Well worth the read before the movie comes out.

A movie huh? Meh, shoulda made it a tv series.. with matt daemon! There is no good space sci fi on.

Everyone on that ship has a job: pilot, commander, surgeon, etc. Mr. Vogel's job is being the german astronaut.
Must be a mascot thing or something like that.
