Magpie pretending to be a bat

Via YouTube: These extremely intelligent magpies like to goof around every now and then, like this one who grabbed ahold of a hanging towel and dangled upside down from it while its buddy begged it to play.

To me that looks like the other magpie is curious about what on earth the batpie is doing rather than begging to play.

Magpies are brilliant. My in-laws have a lot of them around, and quite often have a 'pet' one who has fallen out of a nest and needs help.

After a time they always rejoin a wild group, but while they are young they're hilarious.

They'll troll cats constantly, chase a big (crybaby) German shepherd around the house trying to pull his tail, and most of them are happy to accompany my dad-in-law to the pub for free chips and beer.

That's an Australian magpie, Cracticus tibicen, and Danielle's from here too so *downunder
