rougysays...Can the "greatest country in the world" really exist when lies such as these are allowed to air, essentially unchallenged, seven days a week?
This is very common and it happens daily:
Rightwing mouthpiece makes spurious claim, presenting lies as facts.
Facts are proven to be either false or slanted, so rightwing mouthpiece discards facts and says they don't matter anyway.
Throbbinsays...They do statistics differently in the Netherlands. Biggest difference - they are conducted in Netherlandese.

siftbotsays...Boosting this quality contribution up in the Hot Listing - declared quality by SlipperyPete.
demon_ixsays...Bill-O has a history of being clueless regarding statistics. As for facts, he made a career from being oblivious to those.
rebuildersays...To make any sense of what, if anything, drug legalization has done to crime rates in Amsterdam, you shouldn't compare it to the US. Different country, likely a different crime rate all around, legal drugs or not. The question is, how is the crime rate in Amsterdam compared to other large cities in the Netherlands? I tried to google a little but didn't find any info on that specifically in the little time I have. I did, however find this:

Apparently the crimerate in the Netherlands has been going down since the 90's and they're closing some prisons due to not having enough criminals to fill them. I don't know what the reason for that is.

I counter that even this would give you false statistics, it's like compareing Detroit with Plum Texas, the appropriate statistics would be to compare the CHANGE in crime rate in Amsterdam from before legalization with those AFTER legalization with the change in crime rates in similar cities in the netherlands that do not have legalization of personal morality. (By this, I mean that the things in question that are legal in Amsterdam are all moral issues, not issues of causing harm to others. Personal drug use and sex for cash are not crimes that cause harm to others.)
Where's QM with his insane rant supporting pappa bear?
smoomansays...Why is Bill O'Reilly still breathing my air?

Because it's not a capitol crime to be a ludicrous, right-wing, blowhard, lying, douchebag, asshat fucktard. I've already written my congressman to suggest something be done.

Yeah, I think what bothers me most is that slander like this often takes place on the airwaves (in the case of talk radio). Not only is slander theoretically illegal, the airwaves are supposed to be a public trust. But it seems our scrutiny of them ends at ensuring they don't broadcast any naughty words or naughty bits.
Of course the opposite end is scary as well, you don't want a state run media, or any undue restrictions on free speech. But lies, defamation, and rumor mongering are such powerful political tools, you can be sure that people will use them when there's no consequence for doing so.

What's more amazing is that he just did this exact same thing recently.
