They've decided to do a remake of an almost perfect foreign film again. http://videosift.com/video/Trailer-Let-The-Right-One-In is the original. Usually Hollywood massively fail at this, so here's hoping that they've done a good job; it's such an amazing story, surely they can't fuck it up too much.... I'll certainly be giving it a go

Well it looks to be an almost shot-for-shot remake. The casting of hit-girl as the vampire is also pretty good. The feeling I got from the trailer was actually pretty good, I'm usually really against remakes of foreign films but in some rare cases they turn out to be better than the originals (like The Ring). So here's hoping this one pans out... if you haven't seen the Swedish version, please go rend that immediately.

Chloe Moretz is great and I like Matt Reeves too. I'm hopeful that it will be good.

I never watched the "real" one, because people spoke swedish and I just can't do that. I understand like a little bit but not really - like germans watching "Hitler responds to X".

This may end up being decent in its own right, but are subtitles that bad? Why throw away the incredible camera work of the original, the performances of and chemistry between the original actors, simply to translate to English?

The remake just seems to owe its existence to some bigwig film studio exec. I'm picturing Tom Cruise's Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder.

Not only does it have Chloe Moretz (as ponceleon pointed out), but it also has Kodi Smit-McPhee, who was "the boy" in The Road. They got good actors for it, so it's basically the director who's going to make or break this movie. I'm hopeful.

Agreed. Don't fix what's not broken. The only reason I can see for remaking this movie is to cash in on the people who are too lazy to read subtitles or otherwise cant stand any other language than English spoken in a movie. Then again, for a studio that might not seem like a bad reason...

Not to sound pretentious, but read the book. The book is where the real gold is even if the movie is a beautiful thing.

The book is awesome and the movie is awesome. I normally mind remakes but I don't mind this one because if it sucks big deal I've already got the good movie. I'm going to see this, who's with me!?

I know a few people actually, who miss out on subtitled movies, because they really struggle keeping up with them, be they dyslexic or whatever. So I do think it's great that they choose to remake them, but hideous when they wank them up. I really am hopeful with this one though

I bitch and whine but in the end Im gonna see it like everyone else
