Late Show - Katie Couric Post-Palin

For the first time, Katie Couric talks about her interviews with Sarah Palin.

"She missed running every day. And Senator Biden said he missed being chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee."

Both are perfectly valid (I love running myself) but it's a funny contrast.

This is really funny. I love how Couric is trying to be diplomatic and respectful but the audience keeps laughing at all of the wrong moments. It's golden.

That was pretty bland and uninformative, I thought. She's either telling us things we saw in the videos already or giving us pointless background information. Talking about the negotiations would be interesting if it revealed anything meaningful. But it doesn't.

It's disappointing that she is so coy. She's worried more about offending people and losing future access than educating the public or holding the government to reasonable standards.

She gives interviews for a living! If she weren't so cautious about being diplomatic and respectful, we never would have seen those Palin interviews because no one would ever want to interview with her. I'm not disappointed that she is coy. That is not only to be expected, it is very good business. By acting the way that she does, she is allowing us future access to the terrible interviews of other horrible politicians!
