This is the full lecture given at Carnegie Mellon on Sept 18, 2007. Sadly, Dr. Pausch passed away on July 25, 2008.

rychansays...

I was in attendance when Randy Pausch gave a dinner talk to prospective CMU Ph.D. students. It was probably the best talk I've ever seen -- driving home the point that computation is the most powerful force for changing the world in the future.

I wish I had a video of that

Memoraresays...

It's wonderful...

what elite Wealth and Privilege will allow one to achieve.

Drive yourself to desperation trying to knock down or claw over, under, around or thru those walls but all the "really wanting it" and "vision" and talent and karma and rabid perseverence in the world isn't worth A DAMN without the money and privileged social connections to open the door.

This guys career and life experiences would be laughable for their arrogance if they weren't so insulting.

He wouldn't have given the time of day to someone who spent 6 years slowly WORKING their way thru a state or community undergrad program via night classes because that's the best (or only) option available to them.

Fukin A i'm bitter and pissed when people who've had everything handed to them tell the rest of us we're not really trying.
