Throbbinsays...

Excellent sift EndAll. I have always been fascinated by the Yakuza (and the Triads), and this was a revealing glimpse into their world.

I would also say that that reporter lives in a certain amount of *fear.

Indeed she is. I'm not sure if her looks are a hindrance more than a help when reporting, though. Beauty can be distracting! And she often brings quite controversial issues to the table in her reports, things that the public should pay attention to and be informed of... but as I've observed, she does do her job very well - sincere, persistent, to the point.. so I think it balances out pretty well.

Paybacksays...

Me, when I read "Lara Logan reports on the Yakuza" I thought, "Really? Have they found her corpse yet?"

I figure the only reason Adelstein is still alive is due more to the disgrace of the one boss and Adelstein's apparent "friendship" with the rival boss than to the Tokyo police. The police probably just make sure he doesn't go anywhere he shouldn't. If the Yakuza really wanted him dead, he would be dead.
