Land of the Free, Home of the Screwed

If the bottom 40% of the population holds only %.3 of the wealth, why are the neocons so upset that they pay almost no taxes? They have almost nothing to tax!

From YT:
Financial gains over the last decade in the United States have been mostly made at the "tippy-top" of the economic food chain as more people fall out of the middle class. The top 20 percent of Americans now holds 84 percent of U.S. wealth, as Paul Solman found out as part of a Making Sen$e series on economic inequality.

of course, the working class knew which pie chart was the best reflection of the wealth disparity in the U.S.

So much for socioeconomic classes corresponding with intelligence!

The ongoing reports (and lack of action) about the catastrophe which has become the American economy are becoming the cause for tremendous disgust and indignation -- not least of which my own!

Paul's age is showing. He seems to still believe that voters prefer the model of society that most benefits them personally. If someone prefers an unequal society, he assumes they expect to get to the top one day themselves. All the elections I've lived through have convinced me of exactly the opposite. Most people have so little idea of what's going on in the world, that they will readily act against their economic self interest if you appeal to their emotions. Truly self-interested people would have already taken the time to learn what he's showing them, and developed a plan to get a chunk of that 84% themselves. I bet not a single person he interviewed has rethought his political or economic views as a result of the information received. If anything's changed, they are probably just angrier at whoever they were angry at to begin with.
