Martin Shaw narrates a very informative show produced by HORiZONS, BBC World.
This show concerns a relatively obscure force of nature that is at work in the oceans and specifically in this video, lakes. Even more specific is Lake Nyos, one of three volcanic lakes in Africa; two of which are in Cameroon and the other in Rwanda.
In 1986 a terrible disaster occurred at Lake Nyos. Our understanding of it has been greatly improved (by accident, to some degree), but we lack some of the most crucial understandings and more importantly "when; what is the trigger". Millions of lives could be at stake.
There are a few videos made on this subject so if you wish to know more try looking up Killer Lakes, or Lake Nyos disaster. National Geographic also has a "Mega Disaster" episode based around this concept, but instead of Carbon Mono/Di-Oxide it sets up a scenario using Methane.

Worth a watch and will hopefully provide some previously unknown realities that are at work in nature. Get comfortable before you start it's long at around 44 minutes.
This truly deserves: Damn Nature, You Scary!!!
