Kevin Smith & Lela

Interesting and funny discussion between Kevin Smith and and young woman named Leila about how she thought Chasing Amy portrayed lesbians.

I really like Kevin Smith's talks, he always comes across as honest, funny, smart and really willing to talk about issues people have with his work. He makes the "OK, you're done" joke when the first criticism comes, I feel that most people in his position would say the same thing but not be joking. Cool guy!

Yeah, Kevin Smith gives great interviews and talks. I think I've heard many people say this, but I have to agree: If only he could transfer it onto his films.

Kevin Smith makes comedies for grownups. Far too many comedies and romantic comedies are made for a PG-13 audience and suffer from a certain fake carefulness of what is said or shown which makes you feel like you are watching a film for kids even though the characters and situations might suggest otherwise.

Smith's films may be silly but it is a grownup silly.

I have the four dvd set of Kevin Smith's talks, and they are very entertaining. In this particular case he's trying to make the point that while there were idiots who took from the movie that what lesbians really needed was a deep dicking, he in no way really thinks that, and if they actually paid attention to the film you'd know that too.

I really do like Chasing Amy, a great film.

I really enjoyed this bit of him speaking. The first movie of his I saw was Dogma and to me he was just some weird guy in the background. I've since learned he was responsible for the movie and a host of others that I really had no intention of seeing, but would have watched because I "know" the man behind them. Listening to him speak here makes me want more now.
