Ken Ishii - Extra (Rare Anime Video)

Obviously I like Ken alot. This is the amazing video that was directed for Extra by Koji Morimoto, one of Japan's premier Anime directors (He directed the Beyond feature of the Animatrix).

This video combines everything that I find fascinating and terrifying at the same time; virtual reality, technology, urbanization, isolation and hard hitting techno

Ken Ishii is a successful Japanese techno DJ and producer from Tokyo. He has released work under his own name as well as under the pseudonyms: FLR, Flare, UTU, Yoga, and Rising Sun. Strongly influenced by Detroit techno, Ken Ishii had his first release on Richie Hawtin's label Plus 8. He composed the music for the opening ceremonies to the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. He also provided a track for the 2001 video game Rez by Sega: Creation The State Of Art which is the music used in the third level of the normal game.

Why do you call him a "DJ". A DJ is a "Disk Jockey"...as in someone that just spins records. Is he just spinning records of someone else's music here? Or was he creating his own music from scratch? If from scratch, then call him a Musician or keyboard player or whatever. He's not a DJ. DJ's are wanna-be musicians that don't have the patience to learn an actual instrument...so people trump up their "skillz" to make them into these pseudo celebrities. The Emperor has no clothes...sorry.
