marinarasays...Yah, Pilger is right on target. As long as Obama makes people smug and content. The harsh reality isn't useful to those in a dreamlike Obama rapture. Obama > thinking.
I guess you could point to Obama's political platform before he was President, you could say he had only the best intentions, however I fail to draw that fine a line.
I mean, he's following George Bush's plan to get us outta Iraq, and he's getting deeper into Afghanistan. The dragnet wiretapping still stands, etc. WHERE'S THIS HOPE STUFF? IS IT HIDING IN A WHITE HOUSE CLOSET?
Ultraconservative Israelis hate Obama, I must give him credit for that. I think.
Here's another clip that shows how Obama is opposed to anything the medical industrial complex doesn't want.
watch at 2:35 seconds, "the intentions of the white house are to please the insurance companies...moveing more and more away from pleaseing people to pleasing insurance companies."
moodoniasays...I find John Pilger fascinating, I'd recommend his books about Cambodia, the Indonesian purges, the Chagos islands, and about everything else really. The common thread being calling powerful governments on their bullshit about human rights while they shaft powerless people to death and arm madmen.
If nothing else read about Diego Garcia and how Britain and the USA just completely fucked over the natives so badly they might as well have just given them plague blankets. The more things change...
westysays...you cannot get into the USA high government unless your part of the "club" .

rougysays...Pilger put it much more eloquently than I could.
I often find myself protecting Obama from rightwing stupidity, only to find that he's done something that is, in and of itself, rightwing-oriented and stupid.
The thing that pisses me off the most about him, and about the Democrats as a whole, is that they keep trying to be nice and 'sensible' with their GOP colleagues when they should be rubbing their noses in the shitty mess they created.
When George Bush got into office in 2001, with a Republican majority in both houses, they IMMEDIATELY started ramming through all of their special projects. The only thing that stopped them was when a senator from Vermont left the GOP and became an independent. It was like a bunch of piranhas in a feeding frenzy.
And here are the fucking Dems, limp-wristed and pussy-footed, tip-toeing around, not wanting to make waves, and the bastards expect me to vote for them because I have no other real alternative.
Yeah, great country, great government.
westysays...I wonder if a good proportion of decent minded people would leave USA and move to Canada/Europe.

We're already here.
potchi79says...There's reality and then there's political rhetoric. This is a great video to understand the difference.
Some points he's made remind me of Google. They've successfully branded themselves in a way that they can seemingly do no wrong. People joke about all the information gathering they do, but there's really not much anti-Google sentiment out there because they're so likable.
acidSpinesays...Fuck America and fuck their health care bill. The American people deserve to be fucked as hard and harder as all the people in other contries have been since the 1800's (oh and the indigenous population of course). Maybe then those fat, repugnant dimwits will attempt to take back their 'democracy', whatever that means
