Invisible Highway - Billions of Flying Insects We Never See

Three billion insects a month fly overhead (through a .6 square mile column of air) in England, probably double that in New Orleans.

Cool, but 3 billion a month is only ~70,000 a minute, over a .6 sq mile area. Say a person occupies 3ft x 3ft, that means an insect will fly over your head about every fifteen minutes, in the entire column of air above you.

There are places on earth where more than 70,000 people occupy that area in a minute.

Like your mom.

I liked how the ".6 mile column of air" was drawn as a square, and one side was labeled as having a .6 mile radius. Huh? Guess it doesn't really matter because 3 billion sounds like a lot.
