Huge Nuclear Fireball in slow motion

These spikes (tendrils) are caused by the cables steadying the high tower on which the bomb has been mounted. The energy starts to run down these cables before the heat vaporizes what's left of them.

i've been trying to figure out the scale of these events for a while and i can't find any good info. they're so big and so far, they don't visually make sense to me.
