Huckabee jokes about someone aiming a gun at Obama

Ordained Southern Baptist minister, former governor of Arkansas and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee jokes about someone aiming a gun at Sen. Obama during the annual National Rifle Association meeting. May 16, 2008

(I submit this to show Huckabee for who he is, not as an endorsement of his humor.)

what a weak segway: its kind of scary how easily that "joke" rolled off the tonge. It seemed it wasn't related to anything he was saying on stage, but to what he is saying off it.

bag 'o scum

It's kind of a shame that the kind of people who are likely to be Democrats are least likely to assassinate those who most deserve it (and whose deaths would greatly benefit the country and the rest of the world). Yes, that's dark and evil of me, but it's true.

Not being sarcastic at all when i say that he makes a point. I worry that someone WILL do something stupid this election year because a good chunk of people will not see a black man become president. Im sure Obama is aware of the incredible danger and hope is secret service will be up for the task. Much like MLK speaking his mind or JFK who also pushed for "change". Thats why in the worst parts of my nightmares i realize that Hillary still actually might win by default. Not saying it will happen and lord knows i dont want it to, but the very real possibility can be frightening.

he doesn't make a point, it's just a terrible terrible joke, in every sense.

but yeh i do worry that by some terrible default hillary could win, who's she got to beat? McCain? (i'm british btw) i can't almost feel that it's all planned out to work like that already, i really hope not, we'll see.

Memoraresays...

Obama vs McCain, very much like JFK vs Nixon.
Young dynamic charismatic vs tired old crusty.

As for Huckabee, once again the guys who most loudly proclaim themselves to be followers of Jesus always seem to be the most hateful bigots.

Seems the former (how can you become a "former") minister of God forgot 1 Corinthians 13:

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing."

I actually kinda like Huckabee. He's said some wacky things, but he's also said some good things.

He says that part of his religious beliefs teach him that we should be good stewards of the environment, and that government should take care of the least of us.

I think he's a good guy at heart, and just fell in with some bad people (the Republican party). Unlike most of the other Republican candidates, I think Huckabee still has his soul.

He's a tad ignorant though, and I think he honestly didn't realize what was wrong with what he said.

He's apologized for the comments (at least in the customary Republican way: "I'm sorry you were offended..."), and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

So let me put on my best Chris Crocker impression, and say "LEAVE MIKE HUCKABEE ALONE!"

Trancecoachsays...

"hahaha. Assassinating Presidential candidates is hilarious." And if it happens that Obama is ever shot at or (God forbid) hit by an assassins bullet, I hope Huckabee has the nuts to confess complicity in the act. What a shining example of Christianity. Is this what involvement in the Church does to people? Man, I'm glad I'm agnostic.
