I'm one of those people who can't even be hypnotized, much less buy into a cult.

It's a shame that this is over-long and clunky. A decent editor could trim this down to a nice, tight 5 minute video that would be several times as effective. Mediocre amateur acting can be made to appear a lot more skillful by just showing less of it. They could have overlapped the narrated portions with the acted out portions at the very least.
