How the Star Trek rights were divided between CBS and Param

"... In the last few years, there has been considerable confusion surrounding the Star Trek franchise, both in terms of how the Star Trek rights are divided between Paramount and CBS, as well as how the different Star Trek continuities relate to one another.

Behind it all, are complex rights issues.

In this video we will try to bring some clarity to the situation, by first going through the history of Star Trek rights transferrals. This will lead us to the Star Trek rights split between CBS and Paramount, and the issuing of the alternate Star Trek copyright.

In the next video, we will explore the details of how the alternate copyrights work, and this in turn caused the current fracturing between Star Trek continuities on film and on TV, and more recently, digitally with CBS All Access and Star Trek Discovery..."
