Dan Dennett talks about how religions in many cases offers an "goldenplated excuse to stop thinking" and that people have got to stop playing the "faith card" in debates. I think he puts it brilliantly.

It's like Godwin. You lose by default.

while i agree with what he's saying, i don't think his argument is too convincing.
replace him with somebody who is promoting religion and it would be equally strong.

i'd like to see him to actually argue/debate somebody who's using the "faith card".
