"Hold Me Tight" by Johnny Nash from 1968

I believe it was The Monkees that sang a commercial back then for Score Hair Cream using this melody. But it's been 50 years so I'm kinda hazy.

From YouTube:
The first international rocksteady hit was "Hold Me Tight", recorded in 1968 by "Johnny" Lester Nash, Jr. (born August 19, 1940), an American reggae/lovers-rock producer/singer-songwriter who was one of the first non-Jamaican singers to record reggae music in Kingston, Jamaica.
Best known for his 1972 revival hit, "I Can See Clearly Now", he recorded several other hits in Jamaica by middle/late 60's, after being introduced to a local struggling vocal group, The Wailers (Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh), with whom he recorded in his JAD label ("Bend Down Low" in 1968 was one of his hits).
