jonnysays...awesome... except why aif? that's probably the one file type anything can read.
ulysses1904says...Agreed, Quicktime has no problems with AIF. They should have picked .asf or .rmvb or just about anything else.
antsays...*music
siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Music) - requested by ant.
spoco2says...Look, I'm sure VLC can play lots of file formats, but it has a HORRIBLE interface. I don't mean so much the look, as it does have skins, but moreso the absolute insane key mappings etc.
I've tried using it a number of times for playing back DVD ISOs etc. and always given up in frustration with it's idiotic and non-intuitive key mappings.
teebeenzsays...While VLC can indeed play many things built in, it plays them at a lower quality than if you played them with system codecs instead.
AeroMechanicalsays...VLC is something I keep installed for the random unusual file types, but it's definitely not my favorite player. It is great for that though. For instance, I had some old MODs and S3Ms, and was surprised to see VLC was happy to play them. For a modern player, that's pretty obscure, particularly considering how different they are than just digital recordings from a technical standpoint.
shuacsays...I, too, am a long time user of VLC. I had to stop upgrading after 1.0.5 because in versions after that, the Media Library feature stopped working. After posting multiple notices in their forums (as of 1.1.3), it still wasn't fixed. I don't know what the current version is. I don't know how the current version runs. I know 1.0.5 works.
Fuckin' frogs. I wonder if the Albanians ever made a media player?
rottenseedsays...call me when VLC has milkdrop
arghnesssays...I'm looking forward to the upcoming Android version.
dagsays...Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
It's a good player- fairly lightweight, reads subtitle files easily and plays almost anything, including streams.
Love how he was in prison with with uTorrent and Limwire. Pretty sure that Limewire is in for life.
antonyesays...- for small values of "hilarious", obviously...
gwiz665says...I use media player classic http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/
and the shark007 codecs http://shark007.net/
plays everything in the nice mpc design.
spawnflaggersays...VLC rocks on BeOS
Nebosukesays...VLC or mplayer are the players to just have and forget file types. I prefer mplayer, especially with it being built into xbmc.
Reefiesays...VLC is great for WinXP systems since you won't have to install a seperate DVD decoder, but as mentioned above most formats play back at lower quality than if using the original codecs. Another advatange of VLC is the ability to ignore QT and RMP, though the same can be said for Media Player Classic.
Nothing beats WinAmp for general audio playback though, including a lot of my old tracker mods from the 80s and 90s It really whips the llama's ass!
AnimalsForCrackerssays...Yeah, I use VLC for the files that nothing else would otherwise play. Like pr0-...err promotional videos.
arghnesssays...Don't forget that VLC isn't just a media player, but is also useful as a transcoding engine. I use it for DLNA streaming to my TV, for example.
volumptuoussays...Yeah, didn't get the .aif reference either.
harrysays...Glad to see rebuilding the font cache finally worked out for him!
