westysays...At that speed the worse that would have happend is him just getting nocked to the ground , small possibility of the wheels running him over but more likely that he would be knocked out the way.
i would hardly describe it as a "SPEEDING" train
Sagemindsays...I think it was speeding until it hit it's breaks - but still couldn't stop in time...
Imagine the disaster if he hadn't pushed the van out of the way...

Kinetic Energy = 0.5(mass * velocity)^2
It may not have been moving that fast, but it's got plenty of mass, enough to seriously injure anyone even at 10mph.
MaxWildersays...The dude risked his life. Let's not diminish that fact.
kageninsays...AWESOME - this makes me very *happy
Love his celebration, too. Quite the thrill, I'm sure.
siftbotsays...Invocations (happy) cannot be called by kagenin because kagenin is not privileged - sorry.
Mcboinkenssays...[redacted]
rychansays...Can't upvote because of hyperbole "disaster" "zooming". I give the guy credit, but the train was going slow enough such that the person in the vehicle would have been fine. A pedestrian maybe not. He saved maybe a thousand dollars worth of property damage and a lot of paperwork. Of course, he couldn't know that the train would be nearly stopped when it got there, so I'm not discounting his bravery.
spawnflaggersays...The train looked like a light rail transit/trolley. Still quite heavy and would have totaled the van and probably launched the guy 20 ft if he didn't jump out of the way just in the nick of time.
My question is - didn't it look the van, and the car in front of it, were both driving around the barricade that was already lowered. The newscrawl blocked it at the beginning, but on the opposite side of the road/tracks it was down the whole time, and I don't see any reason they wouldn't both go down simultaneously.
So, if the van did get hit, this would be tagged EIA...
I hate idiot drivers who do this kind of shit just to save 45 seconds in their trip.

edit: nevermind, logic failure.
Sketchsays...Love the adrenaline fueled elation.
entr0pysays...It's odd how the driver of the van makes no attempt to get out. Then again, I'm not sure I'd want to keep on living if I lost my van.
