A non-bratty, non-douchebag kid gets Xbox 360 and Halo for his birthday. [youtube desc]
westysays...

surly he is to young to be playing a game that involves blowing the shit out of everything and swearing at people online?

also although im sure an x box is gr8 fun he would have done so better having a pc, that way he can play games but also learn with it and not just have his brain fall out.

Where did they learn that drama?
Am I the only one disturbed by the fact
That every present was at the same time
A gift to that floating orb in the background?

The hell you talking about? He WAS HAPPY to get the first two presents too. THEY WERE BOOKS.

According to the youtube desc the kid has spent a lot of time in the hospital. Towards the very end you can hear the Dad referring to the fact that the kid has had some "yucky birthdays" in the past and this birthday he's not in the hospital, he's not sick, he doesn't have a broken collar bone. So sounds like he's had more drama in his life then most kids his age...maybe that's were the drama comes from.

Your humor is subtle, and inscrutable (irredeemable).

We'll be fast friends.

Cheers.

(did you buy it? Instead of, you know, the last time)

you only play online if you subscribe to gold, and odds are they're not going to do that.

Besides, it's up to the parents to decide that. I was playing Tenchu when I was like 10/11, and that's one of the goriest videogames of the era, and (As far as you're all concerned) i'm not a mass murderer.

Now.. as for getting a PC, there's a lot less for a kid his age to do on a PC really. There's games for like 3-10 year olds, and then games for 16+ year olds, but not a lot in between. A console is a great starter platform for any gamer of any age. Complete content control by the parents, it's got a built in feature that you can set to only allow your kids to play X-amount of time a day, and, for the most part, they've got a lot more kid friendly games (Viva pinata, Marvel games, all the lego games etc.)

This kid.. Seeing him warms my heart. That's one appreciative little guy. and from the sounds of it, he's earned it. Sounds like he's had some hospital trouble in the past, and who knows, maybe that's why he's so concerned they bought it, because they probably had to pay medical expenses in the past and he'd know how much it would cost. Power to the kid, Enjoy it

They seem like great parents. Not in the way like "Wow, they bought cool toys for their kid," but in the way that the son is so truly grateful for the gifts and appreciative of the resulting financial burden, along with the way his kid sister was equally happy with him rather than being jealous and looking for her own super gift.

It's so wonderful that rather than just screaming how happy he was for himself, his natural first reaction was to worry about the cost incurred by his parents. He's going to grow up to be a decent human being, and that's becoming rarer and rarer every day.

I started on an Atari and c64 when i was under 10 years old , from 13 i had a pc , maby if i had had a game console i would have lernt far less .

on pc there are a plithora of games that fit all age ranges plenty of very good games , the only stuff a console has for games over pc are third person platform/ shooter games / arcade racing games.

consoles are really good in terms of shove it on and it works , but it wont really contribute to making you understand things better.

It would be interesting if you had a non brain washed kid and had a Pc and 360/ps3 infront of them for cuple of years which one they would use the most .

I think a console is good to have if you already have a pc , but if you only had to have one id have a pc every time.

Its far more enjoyable watching videos, making music , making games , making art , editing photographs , playing casual games , playing flahs games , playing hl games , playing driving , flight sims.

than grinding through the majorty of console games that are for the most part recycled garbage.
dont get me wrong plenty of good console games out there that are not on pc , i just think the lack of bing able to be creative and only play games on it.

The girl said it best with "You're gonna make me cry!". Haters not welcome!

Super touching family moment, seeing a negative in this is hyper-sensitive, this seemed like perfect parenting to me, you can almost feel that they're going to be observant of his play time, the mother even mentions something about his dad playing with him. That's the right way to do it folks.

DON'T WRECK THE BOX!!!

Someone is a bit controlling, no?

He doesn't want his kids wrecking it so he can save it as a collector's item. Way to give kids a sense of what's important in life. And yell at them when they try to get excited. That's awesome parenting right thur.

microsoft instantly ships a box out to you

Bah, accidentally replied to deathcow's profile instead of here.

Microsoft no longer sends boxes for red-ringed XBoxes. They send a shipping label. I found this out when I had to send mine in for repair a few months back.

Best part of the gift:

Son, "How did you afford something so expensive?"

Dad, "I just saved for it."

Now that's a gift that will keep on giving! Good parenting.

The kid's too young for PC. On an XBox 360 there is no danger of accidentally clicking onto horribly degrading and mind warping porn.

you know whats great about this? the irony in your statement next to an avatar of remote control anal intrusion lol

=P
