Gordon Lightfoot released this his tribute masterpiece within weeks of the disasterous loss of The Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior. The second song used in this video in tribute to the 29 who lost their lives is called "Ashokan Farewell".

One of my favorites also. I remember when this happened back in 75 and being that I live in Minnesota we had alot of coverage about this at that time. Was 6 and a 1/2 at the time.

Great post.

One of the great story songs of all time. It always takes me back to my time in Ontario and the nights spent on the shores of the deep lakes of the north.
