Futurama 1999-2013 - Zoidberg cries

Bad news, everyone!

“Futurama,” which began its Comedy Central run in 2007, will end with this summer’s Sept. 4 series finale.

The final batch of episodes launch June 19.

This is the second death for the adventures of Bender, Zoidberg, Leela and Zapp. The series enjoyed a run on Fox from 1999 to 2003.

With a total of 140 half-hours, the series should remain in syndication until we're all just a bunch of heads in jars.

Sarzysays...

Sad news, but the show has definitely seen better days. Maybe its for the best that this happens now, before they have the chance to completely run it into the ground. By the time the show ends, they'll have made 140 episodes. That's a good run.

They've said they're "Exploring other options".. basically, they're seeing if any other networks will take the show. I read somewhere that Netflix should pick it up, and I personally thought that was brilliant.

I bought the "Bender Head" complete collection a while back and supplemented it with the following Season 6(?) vol. 1 boxset. But after that, the episodes started to suck (what would have been in vol.2). I guess I should go back and view the rest of them at some point.

Great show but I think it's time to put it to bed; I'd rather see what Groenig can come up with next.
