They seem to just be working out their pectoral muscles, boosting the muscle mass that lies beneath the breast.

If the goal is just to boost pectoral muscle mass, the normal weight-lifting exercises and diet (lots of protein powder) would produce larger results because they use more weight and less repetitions. Doing dips at a corner in e.g. a kitchen counter is a good start.
