Foo Fighters - 'The Pretender'

"The Pretender" is the first single off of the Foo Fighters 2007 album Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace. The full single leaked onto the Internet on Thursday, August 2, 2007 after being played in a world exclusive on KROQ. It was first available for purchase on the iTunes music store on August 8, 2007. The single was released on August 7, 2007 to radio. MTV and MTV2 premiered the music video on Monday, August 20 in the US and it will premiere on Thursday in the UK. The station began showing a teaser for their video in commercials throughout the week before. A 24 second preview of the clip was officially made available on YouTube on Wednesday August 15, 2007. The Song entered the UK Singles Chart on the August 19, 2007 at number 28.

Watching this vid makes me think, "gee, rock music video director, now there's a fun career choice." The absolutely random-seeming pans and zooms - oh it's just another random empty warehouse video. With a big red screen. And what's this? A riot cop? Is he bringing friends? Oh dear yes. Followed by more panning and such. Where's ths going? IT DOESN'T MATTER! Because the Foo rock.

Ah, he has an ace up his sleeve. The magic red wall was more than just a big piece of abstract art. It was... a giant resvoir of tomato soup? Cow blood? Whatever - awesome.
