Music from Australia and New Zealand in the year 1977:Flash & The Pan's promo-video for the hit single 'Hey St. Peter' (January, 1977), which later appeared on the 1978 album 'Flash 'n' The Pan'.Note: In January 1977, studio act Flash 'n' The pan release their debut single 'Hey St. Peter'. A novelty hit through out Australia and Europe; the single's b-side was 'Walking In The Rain' -later covered by Grace Jones. It would take 'Flash' well over a year to relase a follow up single - that being 'Down Among The Dead Men' in 1978.Although Flash 'n' The Pan were a new name on the charts, the duo themselves were nothing new in the pop mainstream. George Young and Harry Vanda first rose to international stardom when playing in the Easybeats back in the mid 1960's. When the group disbanded in 1969, Vanda and Young set themselves up as a production/songwriting team with a clientel which included Amen Corner, The Tremeloes, Marmalade, Shocking Blue, Los Bravos, Suzi Quatro and Paul Revere and the Raiders.Back in Australia and at Albert studios, the duo continued writing and produced hits for Ted Mulry, John Paul Young, Stevie Wright (ex-Easybeat), William Shackespear and many others as well as producing Rose Tattoo, the Angels and AC/DC - a little known hard rock band which featured George's younger brothers Angus and Mal...
