theo47says...Probably my favorite cinematic fight sequence ever, not only because I'm a comic book geek, but because I used to ride those trains almost every day.
budzossays...Loved it except for the jesus treatment at the end. Oh and the fact that a 30-metre length of Spidey's web is shown to stretch to a few hundred metres...
Farhad2000says...Same as Budzos. That was just weird at the end.
theo47says...Oh, you cynics - I happen to love that sequence; I get a little misty when the grateful passengers swear to keep his secret.
Watch the movies again; Spidey's webbing is clearly shown to have elasticity is numerous scenes - and here, when they reach their upper edge of tension, Spidey's arms are almost torn right out of their sockets.
theo47says...For those wondering, the added scenes here are:
- the shots of the train going through the stop, and
- the entire sequence of Doc Ock grappling with Spidey on top of the train, holding him up high, forcing him to the side of the car, running him into the signs at track level, then being struck by the oncoming train.
Unsung_Herosays...What do you mean by "Jesus Treatment at the end"?
theo47says...After almost killing himself to stop the train, Peter passes out momentarily - the passengers catch him and have to pass him back over their heads to find a place to lie him down.
It's an image that's been used in Godspell and other religious movies to illustrate what it must've looked like to take Jesus down from the cross.
