Oh my! You're the right age to know it... I guess you were too busy *not* watching TV in the late 80s and early 90s. This was the first thing that played at the end of the credits of several popular TV shows back then:

Ha! No one ever brings up good old Max anymore besides me.
I often fast forward commercials on my dvr and think how much they look like blipverts. Paired with the obesity epidemic, I almost expect to read an article about unexplained spontaneous human explosions some day soon.
