arrendeksays...I really loved this movie, but a lot of people didn't. If you do like what you see, you should stop watching it and go rent the movie, 'cause it's awesome.
Sylvester_Inksays...People accuse it of being a ripoff of The Matrix, but it really isn't. If anything, it's inspired by Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World, but with more guns involved. And there's nothing wrong with that. Plenty of movies are inspired by their predecessors and don't turn out half as well. The important thing to realize is that this was a low budget movie, yet the director was able to stretch his budget quite a bit.
SinisterDextersays...Easily one of my favorite movies. I did hate how it got a bum rap because it came out after "The Matrix".
budzossays...Hmm I don't remember the action being that stupid.
wildmanBillsays...Great post! Really liked this movie. Matrix fans just don't have enough to complain about after the last two absolutely sucked, so they start calling rip-off on other movies.
Farhad2000says...This has aged badly though...
trytesays...Love this scene. Never noticed how stiff the actors look though--maybe it's the tiny box instead of a big screen?
pragmaticksays...I wanted to like that movie, but the gun fights look so incredibly cheesy, I just had to laugh.
cobaltsays...tryte: If the actors looks stiff its because it was directed that way, reflecting the restricted society they lived in.
One of the things I like about this movie is that they have a loose grasp of ammunition (i.e. it isn't infinite)
1zin1says...i didn't mind the movie for only two parts one, was when he was saving that dog and killed those guys that where circling him.
The second was that end scene, with the gun fighting, reminded me of that anime which i forgot the name where these chicks also did that gun-kata thing, where the chicks reloaded there gun by getting endless amounts of ammo out of there cleavage, lol
Sylvester_Inksays...Yeah, that anime was Grenadier. That fight scene was a direct ripoff of the Dupont/Preston fight. There are two other anime that have EQ fight-scene ripoffs, one of which is frame-by-frame. (There's also a Power Rangers-like show that has a similar fight scene.)
And in all honesty, I found the fight scenes to be quite incredible. You have to remember that this movie had a very, VERY small budget ($20 million, I think) and that a lot of the fight scenes were done in very few takes. (One was done in one take.) Plus the movie wasn't oversaturated with fight scenes, so each one felt awesome.
antsays...I liked the movie.
theoneinsidersays...What I like most about this movie is the fact that there aren't ten million cuts in every scene. Puts Michael Bay to shame.
