Definitely not a fail. He didn't hit the poolside. He had jumped clear of the bike well before then. The reason the bike flips so dramatically is because it is unladen.

It looks like his ass was directly over the handlebars when it hit and bounced up, and the flip of the bike looks to be consistent with the front part of the bike hitting his ass/balls with a lot of force. So there's still hope he successfully removed himself from the gene pool!
