New Zealander Rudy Heeman has been showing off his latest garage invention - a hovercraft which takes off at 70kmh. .

42 MPH crash into water is still going to sting right

42mph isn't that bad. That's about the speed we used to peak at when water skiing. If y fall, you mainly bounce along the surface for a bit, while you slow down. And unlike asphalt or concrete, you don't get road rash from it.

I wonder if the rudderish thing that is used for steering acts as a vertical stabilizer? If not, he could add some vertical winglets or something.

Awesome! I would want one, if I had a lake nearby. I doubt it would handle nicely with big waves.
