Almost no traffic. Mo motorcycles or scooters at all, very few bicycles. Just so weird.

Edit: saw more bikes and a few motorcycles towards the end.

Not what I expected.

There was a lot of symmetry, buildings on either side of the street matched in a lot of areas... is this something with their culture? It looked interesting, and I'd want to visit if it wasn't for all of the other issues.

It looks surprisingly neat and tidy. The tour, being authorized, was probably directed just so to show the nicest face of the city: morning rush hour so it looks like there's traffic, not too hot, only the most monument-studded roads, avoiding the slums and whatnot.

That's the magic of central planning. If the Dear Leader wants symmetrically placed buildings ...
