kronosposeidonsays...Vote for it while it lasts.
oxdottirsays...Why is this here? I quote from the VideoSift FAQ:
#
Please do not post entire episodes of television shows or movies, unless you know beyond a shadow of a doubt they are in the public domain.
That's what BitTorrent is for.

eric3579says...IMO - I see this as more of a guideline than a rule (I tend to look the other way). I'm guessing a rule like this is in place to help shelter the site from legal action. Of course I could be wrong.
oxdottirsays...Clips of great scenes from Dr. Strangelove? I'm there. The whole dang movie? Go use BitTorrent--or even respect the copyright. I know we violate it, but the severity seems to vary, and this is totally blatant. I don't want this here. I would hope others would feel the same way.
If we do want it here, well. Well, I would take that as a sign that VS is one big batch of false advertising. PLEASE tell me that isn't the case.

dystopianfuturetodaysays...Who would vote against one of the funniest movies of all time? For shame budzos and oxdottir.
gwiz665says...We are not copyright police and it is not our place to track them down, no matter how blatant. Now, we have the guideline/rule to keep videosift from turning into ninjavideo, which it's not supposed to become, but as long it's not recent I have absolutely no quarrel with it being here. I mean, if anything, we're making people see it and become interested in it. I don't see how this can hurt anyone.
budzossays...I'm not voting against copyright violation, although I'm damn close. I'm voting against watching movies in pan-and-scan Flash video format. Why not drape some cheesecloth over the screen if you're so determined to obscure the picture? Even old mono black and white movies deserve better. Kubrick would roll over in his grave if he knew people were watching his film this way.
