Doug Stanhope on how this generation sucks

Our favorite comedian talking about how the younger generations are all pussies...he's got some points.

Whenever I heard my parents' generation complaining about my generation, I like to remind them that if they had gotten their shit together and done some real parenting, their kids wouldn't be so fucked up.

Something else I think about from time to time is the difference between my life and my father's and grandfather's. They both worked very hard for very little for their entire lives. Grandpa raised horses. Dad is a carpenter. By the time I was 22, sitting on a help desk, I was making more per hour than my father ever did doing real labor. Part of me regrets not doing something more... I don't know... traditional? Some roll up your sleeves and get dirty kinda work. As a teen I often worked with my father during the summer, building houses. There was a satisfaction in that that I've just never gotten from a network deployment, a website launch, etc.

Things have been too easy for most of my generation and I think the current crop is even more spoiled.

It is true that, a lot of times, our lives are too pampered these days. We take many things for granted. This coupled with the lack of good ol' fashioned character building manual labor has helped form a generation of wussies. Me included.

"i don't think you're a Team Player" gawd how i hate the current fixation with "be a team player". Team players are people who are too weak to make it as an Individual.

Doug Stanhope is currently 46 years old. His generation is the generation of helicopter parents. His generation won't let kids play outside unsupervised. His generation won't let kids play tag at school. His generation is banning dodgeball.
