Actually, it's pretty simple.

Lay them all down first, then tilt each up, one at a time. It's just easier with bricks due to their size. Dominoes would be horrifically difficult to do the same way.

You could probably set them up with a jig. It would have to be exactly a brick's width, less a brick's thickness.
