My girlfriend once told me that the one piece of passed down wisdom in her family is that if a bear is chasing you, you should run down hill, then stop and tack back up. If you're lucky the bear will end up tumbling.

Well apparently if you blast it in the face with some sort of spell you can be certain it will tumble

In all seriousness though, the hill would need to be pretty steep for that to even have a possibility of working, and if the bear is chasing you and you start running, it's going to get you one way or another
