Do Police Target Black People?

John Stossel's TV show has a panel on whether blacks are unfairly targeted or not

Neill Franklin barely addresses the issue, which makes me think he doesn't have much of a case.

His opening argument was that a lot of black crime is in drug trafficking and drugs shouldn't be illegal. While that may all be true, it doesn't change the fact that it is illegal now and the police aren't being racist by responding to those crimes.

Really a terrible debater.

Profiling is a natural instinct (Doesn't make it right or wrong, just a part of nature.)

If I didn't profile, I would be shot in my park. All drugs, all one race (I won't say their race, it could be any.) It is just the culture we are in.

For those who think this is racial in and of itself, ask yourself why? I mentioned no race, but you assumed? Why? Why did you profile? Because...

Try being a minority for a few decades. Then ask yourself if he has a case or not.
One dude's inability to articulate the injustice doesn't mean the injustice isn't there.

He's supposed to present the argument; he's supposed to convince me his position is correct.

You are correct that just because he can't demonstrate his position doesn't mean that it's wrong, but I never said he was. I only said he had no case. That being so, he has no business representing that position.

I both observed and judged debates at Webster University over the winter and this guy would have been torn apart by any of the students I saw with one exception. That exception was a team of first-timers who stated they didn't actually want to be there.

Mr Franklin is hurting his would-be case by representing it in such a poor manner.

Also, in fairness, Ms MacDonald is in poor form as well. She let him stray off topic and even followed him there and began debating the merits of the drug war.

Meanwhile in reality, innocent brown people keep getting pulled over and searched for drugs without reasonable suspicion.

I will upvote but I will say this--all sections of America, including black Americans, target black Americans. Period. I am disappointed by every side.

Slavery was accepted by nearly all powers at one point or another. And it still is--just in other forms than slavery. It is sadly how nations are built. And Genji's point in all this is what? That life is harsh? That it was harsh? That it was human nature? That everyone did it? That they still do? Illegal immigrants?

Sorry, I have been drinking. Yes, laws fuck black people. So do police, drugs, employers (Even black employers) and so forth. Even those who try to help somehow fuck things up. Citizens, it's all messed up.
