geo321says...Thankfully God likes me better than those dead people.
thealisays..."Anyone that has misfortune fall upon them must have NOT been a 'true believer', otherwise God would have protected them. Those people must have been sinners, and I don't sin, so it won't happen to me."
It's called Victim blaming, and it works pretty well, manifesting a false sense of security and control.
honkeytonk73says...perfect. absolutely perfect.
Fusionautsays...This video seems just as bad as those Kirk Cameron videos and others like it. If it's making fun of people who believe in a divine being and protection from that being, without proof, then the makers of this video should back it up with science. Actual statistics would be nice. An experiment should be performed. Why not show how many 'believers' die of unnatural causes verses 'non-believers?' It's completely possible, though unlikely, that the believers live longer and better lives. It's also possible that someone can go through life without locks, smoke detectors, seat belts etc... There just needs to be some evidence to support one way or the other.
In the ongoing battle between Science and Religion/Creationism the Science side needs to actually use science to prove it's point. Videos like this use the same techniques as the religions it criticizes to recruit people to take up a cause. Just like that Zeitgeist movie
Anyways, I think I'm going to go watch some Carl Sagan videos now to make me feel better
