Regarding the protocol for fixing dead links, it's still up in the air. I'm not sure if/how/when there'll be a solid answer on the matter. But, if the video is still published (hasn't been discarded) and it's your own, you can just go ahead and edit any of it (including embed code) any time, especially if you find that it's dead.
