Listen to them Praise the officiating crew, which is great they deserve it and being a referee I would love them to say such things about me. Now watch ANY Soccer game anywhere in the world, the Officials are hated on so much it's a wonder why they bother to show up at all.

i was serious and yes i watched with the sound on. everyone is obviously saying it's wrong but i don't understand why. all i've ever seen in football is people tackling each other nonstop so...

When the punt returner is waiting to catch the ball, you can't hit him until he makes contact with the ball. He's too much of a sitting duck, just standing in one place and staring at the ball coming his way. Add to the fact that he intentionally hit high, leading with his shoulder pad, and it becomes more nasty.

On the other hand, if that same hit would have been delivered as the returner was catching the ball, it would've been a good hit. It seems like a meaningless distinction, but once the rule is in place, the returner isn't expecting to get hit until he catches the ball, so he's vulnerable to cheap shots like this one.

That's not exactly true Rid. Referees can call Unnecessary Roughness on the player who performs a hit like that with the sole intention of injuring the player, which is why leading with your helmet is such a big deal on the quartback and such. The NFL is trying to protect their investment, namely the players, so you'll see more of this stuff get cracked down on.

Makes sense, when I played football we were taught it was war, and to try and hurt the other team as much as possible. Kinda scary stuff to teach high schoolers.
