I've watched every video these guys have put out in the last several years, trying to "get" them, but I still don't.
There are so many artists who are more hardcore, artistic, controversial, and most of all, talented.

What the fuck makes these people so popular?

Seriously! I outright hate them.

In my view, what makes them so popular is mostly Yo-landi, but also they're somewhat different. I must admit that without the videos I wouldn't like them nearly as much.
Taste is a personal thing.

Unique videos. For me it's not so much the music (although it has grown on me), and ive come to quite enjoy. VideoSift is a video site and I don't think its necessarily the music that gets the votes and i sure wouldn't sift the music if the video wasn't the bomb. Its all about the video imo, and the music you grow to enjoy(at least for me).

i love how they use 90's flash house samples and incorporate them into some seriously disturbed video presentations.

i'm pretty sure we've never seen ninja be himself. he's known as a satirist and a performance artist as well so i'm quite sure there is loads of tongues in cheeks with die antwoord. i'm not necessarily a fan but i can def. appreciate the quality of their extremely cheeky and cheesey music (hyper machismo personalities and lyrics mixed with all of the chaviest rave sounds and s. african interpretations of electrobass) and their videos, which are some of the best music videos coming out right now.

love them or hate them, they're different and at least somewhat interesting.
