Denmark Responds To Fox News Fantasy With Facts

A Fox Business News item characterizing Denmark as a socialist dystopia has drawn an angry response from politicians from the Nordic country.

The Fox Business broadcast suggests that Denmark is an economic failure because of its high taxes and a lack of free-market incentives. Presenter Trish Regan makes her points during a monologue in which she juxtaposes the economy of Denmark with that of Venezuela. Trish Regan also undermines the Denmark's welfare system and tution free university.


Danish Finance Minister Kristian Jensen responded to Regan’s report via Twitter, and invited her to come to Denmark to learn more about the country.

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the U.S. is No. 20 in a ranking of national employment rates, while Denmark ranks eighth. When it comes to income equality, Denmark has the sixth-best distribution, while the U.S. is ranked seventh from the bottom, just above Turkey. In work-life-balance, Denmark ranks second-highest in the OECD (just after the Netherlands), while the U.S. ranks ninth from the bottom.

The sad thing is you CAN compare Denmark to the US of A, and Denmark is winning right now. As a place I would gladly to move to.

I've actually been looking, seriously, for work in Paris. There's a shit-ton of hoops to jump through beyond getting a sponsor. I really wish I had a Master's degree, because France has a special visa for people with high-demand skills who have a Master's or above.

I'm not sure what getting into Denmark would be like.

I don't understand what's so difficult to understand about this. Take care of all people, and they won't turn into the monsters that we're so afraid of, they become more productive members of society since they aren't busy scrambling to survive, and it costs less than dealing with the ramifications of NOT taking care of them.
