Condi hearing on gay policy "a platoon of lesbians"

"According to the Government Accountability Office, the Pentagon has dismissed more than 300 language experts under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," including more than 55 who were fluent in Arabic."

I can well believe it! I know people who used to work for the State Department and other US government bodies, who said that there was a concerted effort to remove people who spoke Arabic and had an intimate knowledge and understanding of the Arab world because it was worried that they had political sympathies which were incompatible with the 'war on terror' and America's wider Middle East policy (i.e. unquestioning support of Israeli government policy).

Combine this with the fact that the 9/11 Commission Report stated that: "The total number of undergraduate degrees granted in Arabic in all U.S. colleges and universities in 2002 was six." SIX!!!!!!!!

And you understand why there is a communication problem between America and the Arab world.

whats the purpose of "don't ask don't tell" again?

is it based on that well established fact that openly gay people can't be trusted? or based on the similar well established fact that openly gay people aren't able to stop daydreaming about gay sex long enough to translate some arabic?

...it ones of those, i forget which
