It's all very sad. But, atleast to me, very fascinating. The Soviet Union was big and strong at the cost of its people which in the end couldnt compete with Reagans Starwars.

Interestingly, the Russians lost air-superiority because they designed for major nuclear war, and used vacuum tubes, instead of solid-state transistors.

Oh did not know that. The main reason for the colapse was however that all was built at the cost of its people which also resulted in poor quality of about everything they made. People had no self gain and thus was not interested in evolving.
