Farhad2000says...A wonderful car chase scene that I always felt was let down by poor direction and editing, showing long straights in a car kills any sensation of speed the viewer might have. So I'd have to give the title back to Ronin now...
southblvdsays...what? no music? ha! didn't need it. the ending was exciting.
bamdrewsays...hah, i was about to say how Ronin has spoiled me when i come to watching all the classic car chases, but farhad beats me to it as usual.
but what an ending!
ravensays...classic... now take a look at how Michael Bay handles the same situation...

Kruposays...It's just like my daily commute to work - only in a faster Mazda with better handling.
Although I would hate to subject it to gunfire and ramming.
Traconsays...hehe its good but the hub caps kept magically reattaching them selves and there is a green bug they pass like 5 or 6 times if not more, and the engine noise is totally off 2 or 3 times as well.
Traconsays...anyone for a car chase competition? let everyone decide the best car case ever?
pho3n1xsays...best chase ever: Gone in 60 Seconds (1974)
Goofball_Jonessays...I thought the one in the French Connection was pretty good too....in terms of pedestrian hit potential.
Farhad2000says...For your viewing pleasure, the car chase from Gone in 60 Second (1974) is featured in this music video - Santos - Camels
pyrexsays...Heh damn, was just about to post this, good thing I searched for it.
Must've watched this about 30 times when I was really getting an interest for cars; muscle cars especially. The Ronin car chase in all honor, it felt a bit too edited compared to this. The Bullit chase is essentially the mother of all car chases, so they were still on relatively new ground, I guess Ronin et al learned from.
Plus, c'mon, this is a clash of the titans. A '68 Charger vs. a '68 Mustang?! Freakin' fantastic! Just too bad the Mustang won ('69 Dodge Charger being my favorite car of all time ;-). And the sound of those engines.. oh baby :-D

I don't think I'd call it the best, but the chase in "To Live and Die in L.A." is pretty awesome.
