Was told as a girl that his niece, Emily Cody was a distant relative of my dad's. Then again...my dad loved to tell me stories

Nah, Cody respected Native Americans, qualm.

Cody spoke of his personal "respect" for First Nations peoples but you forget he actively killed them, he actively participated in the decimation of their principal food source, as an intentional act of genocide, and then when the FNs were nearly wiped out he paraded the few surviving men, women and children around the country as if they were freaks.
