Breaking into an apple store

An idiot drives his BMW into the front of the apple store at an attempt to a quick crash and grab. Mostly scratching the hell out of his car. He was found later because his licenses plate was ripped off when he was trying to back out through the gate.

I could see if they went to the back and lifted whole stock of MacBook Pro retina display laptops...

And why wouldn't he just report his car as stolen and ditch it? (though this guy is so dumb he probably would have called from a stolen iPhone)
