blankfistsays...You can see who voted for this here: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll681.xml
You can look up your local rep here: https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml
From there, you can cross reference your Congressman with his vote. From the "Write Your Representative" page you can also email them. There, I've made it so easy for you you have no reason not to do it. Be sure to give him/her hell for this one. I'm writing my Congressman now.
volumptuoussays...My rep, Diane Watson, voted yea.
whore.
blankfistsays...^write her.
davidrainesays...My Representative (and both Senators) voted for the bailout. No surprise there, Rahm voted for it the first time around. I've already pledged not to cast my vote for him in November (and told his staff as much over the phone), but I don't think it's going to do a damn bit of good.
imstellar28says...If you vote for Obama or McCain, you are supporting this $850 billion dollar travesty. I suggest voting against every single representative who supported this bill whether they are congressmen, senators, or presidential candidates.
Ron Paul: wtf is wrong with you. 90% of Americans are against this bailout. Put yourself in as a third party candidate and ride the resentment of this bailout right into the oval office. And for god's sake hire some professional speech writers and public relations personnel.
I tried to contact my representatives to b*tch them out but the phone lines have been busy for the last week, and the email is experiencing so much traffic its down. Sent an email to Ron Paul though and it went right through...guess his box isn't quite as flooded with hate mail.
dgandhisays...This disregards a lot about what went on here.
I watched the Senate session on c-span, and it was clear that the "bail-out-package" was a rider on another bill which has been in the senate for at least most of the year. The riders and pork in that bill plus the riders and pork on whatever the house used to pass the bail out would all be added together, plus the actual contents of the original bills, and thrown together for the pres to sign.
Saying it went from 3 to 400 pages is simply not true, it went from 3 (pure give away no oversight) pages to probably closer to 100, with all the stipulations from congress, and then was added to the 300 pages of actual bills, and pork.
It's REALLY BAD to write law in a week, no matter what it is, add to that a trillion dollar price tag, and well it's obviously a problem, but the "pork" is almost completely irrelevant to the issue at hand.
The media needs to stop arguing about the color of the bikeshed
Hive13says...This happens on every major bill ever passed. The hold out voters say I'll pass it but my constituents want this added first. It is pretty brazen of them to do it on such a high profile bill with such wide media attention, but this is standard American politics.

And that's exactly what I feel about Ron Paul. He blew it big time. He's still blowing it. He blows. Shame.
He has the clearest, simplest position, and he just rattles on like a crazy old man. Everything he says washes over me even if I agree with it. yada yada yada derivitives market yada.
