Oatmealsays...upvote for exploding microwave
gluoniumsays...and I thought our american 'science' programs were dumb. oxygen isn't flamable! it merely allows other flamable things to burn faster/hotter.
therealblankmansays...You are correct, glueon, but so what? The thing blowed up real good, and the point remains- pure oxygen around any source of ignition or combustion is a recipe for big bada boom.
doomie77says...He did explain the tinfoil's presence though at least.
Halon50says...It done gone boom!
cybrbeastsays...Brainiac is such a dumb show.
What exploded? Oxygen can't explode, it need something to ignite. Maybe it instantly burnt the balloon causing a shockwave?
randomizesays...Ya got that raiht! *said with hillbilly drawl*
special_opssays...cybrbeast, they attached some tinfoil to the end of the balloon which provided the ignition source.
phelixiansays...People aren't trying to say oxygen needs something to ignite it, but that it needs something that can burn as the actual fuel. The oxygen merely facilitates any fire, but just as candle can't burn without a wick, oxygen can't burn without something to burn such as hydrogen or stored carbon(wood, coal, oil, etc...).
JerkyTwinssays...Um hello, the o2 didn't explode the balloon with oxygen exploded....
